Seven Sharp TV interview with Adventure Specialties Trust

“How do you help young people turn their backs on a life of crime?”

Check out this 3-minute TV interview with Seven Sharp about one of our Adventure Therapy programmes working with youth offenders from Te Puna Wai, one of the youth justice residences run by Oranga Tamariki Ministry for Children.

The interview is from a couple of years ago but is still just as relevant today!

> Te Puna Wai is one of four youth justice residences across New Zealand. The young people that end up in these residences often come from troubled backgrounds, where violence, addiction and abuse are part of their everyday life.

Adventure Specialties Trust partnered with Oranga Tamariki Ministry for Children (formerly Child, Youth and Family) to allow these young people to experience nature, the outdoors, and outdoor adventure activities, combined with deeper conversations about the important things in life, like our relationships with each other, our stewardship of the earth, our beliefs about ourselves and our strengths and weaknesses, our ability to change, to persevere through the hard parts of life, to support each other and build each other up.
