Māori word of the month: manaakitanga

At Adventure Specialties Trust, it’s really important to us to celebrate and embrace the Maori culture and language that is such a crucial part of New Zealand Aotearoa culture and history.

This month, we are starting a regular “Maori Word of the Month” series to celebrate words and phrases that relate to our work in the wild outdoors.

How does this word relate to our work at Adventure Specialties Trust? At the end of our outdoor adventure programs, we ask participants, “How was your program?” Some of the regular replies are things like: helping others, being kind, being helped by someone else, learning to work better with others.

In other words: Manaakitanga.
