WHAT ACTIVITIES WILL WE DO?
If outdoor adventure sounds a bit scary, don’t worry! We will encourage you to try new things and get out of your comfort zone, but we will never force you to do anything, and we will support you the whole time.

For every activity, there are usually “easier” and “harder” options for the activities, to cater for different levels of ability and confidence.

Please note that all outdoor adventure activities are always weather dependent, but activities can include:

  • Sea kayaking
  • Coastal walk
  • Bush walk
  • Biking
  • Rock climbing
  • High ropes confidence course
  • Tree planting
  • Abseiling
  • Surfing
  • Coasteering
  • Caving
  • And more …

(All equipment is provided)

As well as outdoor adventure activities, we also have different group therapy tools, like facilitated group discussions (talking about a different topic each week), space for personal reflection, and simply spending time in nature with its proven therapeutic benefits.

If you have any questions or concerns about anything at all, please contact us. We’re happy to chat with you about any part of this programme.

WHAT IS ADVENTURE THERAPY?

If you are having a hard time, or finding life is a struggle at the moment, then Adventure Therapy can help you feel better and also find ways to deal with the hard stuff in your life.

Plus, it is a ton of fun!!!

We use the stunning, wild places of Aotearoa New Zealand, along with therapy ‘tools’ like fun and easy outdoor adventure activities, team-building exercises, group discussions, one-on-one chats, time for personal reflection, and simply being outdoors in nature.

We use these tools to help you work towards the following five positive outcomes:

SELF WORTH
You are worthy. Develop better familiarity of your inbuilt character strengths and a knowledge of your inherent worth.

Build a toolkit for practicing self-acceptance and self-compassion, and the ability to recognise the value that you add to your whanau, your friends and your community.

TOOLS FOR HAUORA (HEALTH OR WELLNESS)
Develop better strategies to navigate through difficult times and better resilience (the ability to bounce back after a setback).

Develop more confidence in asking for help and support.

WHANAUNGATANGA (WOVEN INTO COMMUNITY)
Develop a greater sense of manaakitanga (a Maori concept that means kindness, empathy, generosity and a desire to uplift others).

Improve your social skills and your relationships, so you can feel a greater sense of belonging and connection.

HOPE FOR A FUTURE WITH PURPOSE
Develop a greater hope for your future. Things will improve and you have a central role in making this happen.

Discover the energy and motivation to work towards your personal goals and find a way around obstacles.

TAHA WAIRUA (SPIRITUAL WELLNESS)
Develop a better understanding of your own cultural identity as well as an appreciation of the diversity and bicultural foundations of Aotearoa New Zealand.

Reflect on your own spiritual identity (wairuatanga) and how this adds to your health and wellbeing.

Develop a stronger connection to your own place (turangawaewae), to the land, to nature, to the environment.
