Feature Hut: Bob’s Camp Bivouac

FEATURED HUT: Bob’s Camp Bivouac.

Possibly the cutest little hut that six adults could try to sleep inside!

Located in Mount Thomas Forest Conservation Area in the Canterbury region, accessed by a 5-hour hike each way.

The instructions to get there just sound like the start of an adventure! “Follow Wooded Gully Track until you reach the saddle at the head of the valley … Then follow the marked route along the ridgeline, dropping steeply into beech forest. Follow the undulating route northwest along the ridgeline until you reach a tussock clearing above Cattle Peak Stream. Water can be obtained from the upper tributaries of the Cattle Peak Stream.”
