Legal Status
  • Adventure Specialties Trust was established in 1984 and has 20 years of experience in the delivery of outdoor education programmes including the training of outdoor instructors.
  • Adventure Specialties Trust is a registered Charitable Trust legally incorporated in November 1985. It also has Inland Revenue Department Tax Exempt status.
  • An Operations Manual was established in 1994 detailing the policies and procedures under which Adventure Specialties Trust operates. Included in this document are risk management policies for every outdoor activity the Trust is involved in.
  • In 1998 we became an approved Level 3 provider of social and welfare services to Child, Youth and Family. We were audited in 2000 and our approval rolled over.
  • In September 1999 we gained a Certificate of Compliance as a Maritime Safety Authority approved white water rafting operator. We have annual audits and our compliance is rolled over.
  • All Adventure Specialties Trust instructors are members of the New Zealand Outdoor Instructors Association (NZOIA). The NZOIA award scheme is the industry recognised standards setter for qualifications in outdoor instruction.
  • Adventure Specialties Trust financial accounts are audited annually and are available for scrutiny upon request.
  • On the 4 October 2001 Adventure Specialties Trust was accredited by the Sport, Fitness and Recreation Industry Training Organisation (SFRITO) to deliver the National Certificate in Outdoor Recreation (Instruction) Level 5.
