![]() introductionOn the 11 January 2009 four teams of ten teenagers will simultaneously begin a special journey. Each team starts from a different location—Auckland, Gisborne, Wellington and New Plymouth. Cycling, tramping and kayaking over 12 days each team makes their way to the Central North Island, the culmination of the event, a climb of Mt Ruapehu. Weather permitting all teams will arrive at the Dome summit at the same time. “A Sea to Summit Challenge”Along the way there are opportunities planned for each team to give profile to and raise funds for aid and development agency TEAR Fund’s appeal - “Lost Children of the Himalayas”. This project seeks to fight the causes of child trafficking in Nepal. Each day of the Journey has a theme and through discussions the teams explore the importance of being generous and compassionate and what it takes to create a caring society and to help and needy world. They Made It!!Between 12.30 and 2pm all four teams arrived at the Dome Summit of Mt Ruapehu. An absolutely awesome effort by everybody involved. We will have a good selection of team photographs posted up next week so check into the website from mid week.
