7 Day North & South Island Tour

DAY ONE

Pick up in Auckland and drive through the Waikato to Waitomo arriving around lunch time.

Here there will be an opportunity for people to look at the Glow Worm Cave Tour, a short walk to the Natural Arch, visit the Cave museum or Black Water Rafting.

In the afternoon we will travel to Rotorua aiming to be there no later than 7.00pm. Time permitting we may stop enroute to explore some short walks to view some of New Zealands original forest.

DAY TWO

Your host driver will assist you to get to various locations you choose to visit in Rotorua, make bookings etc. But essentially the day is yours with many options to choose from. The cost is for activities is the responsibility of each person. Eg:

* Whakarewarewa Thermal Park
* Whitewater rafting on the Kaituna
* Horse Trekking
* Paradise Valley Buried Village

Tonight dinner will be with Tamaki Tours. This is an entertaining evening, good food and an excellent window on Maori culture.

DAY THREE

At 8.30am we leave Rotorua and drive to Auckland arriving around midday. There will be several hours to have a look around the Central City area before leaving for the airport for your flight to Christchurch.

Our guide in Christchurch will pick you up and deliver you to your accommodation in Christchurch.

DAY FOUR

We will pick you up at 8.30am and deliver the group to the railway station to connect with Trans Alpine railcar to Arthurs Pass in the heart of the Southern Alps. At Arthurs Pass you disembark leaving you with about 5 hours to explore the short walks around Arthurs Pass township, visit the National Park visitors centre and have lunch at a local café. The fit might even consider the steep but well marked trek to Avalanche Peak. In the afternoon you will rejoin the Trans Alpine railcar for your return trip to Christchurch. You will arrive around 6.30pm and again your guide will pick you up and deliver you back to your accommodation.

DAY FIVE

The morning is free for you to look around Christchurch City. Then we will pick up the group and drive you to Kaikoura. This trip is a little over 2 hours and there will be time to explore the Kaikoura Coastline.

DAY SIX

This morning you are booked for a Whale Watch tour. In the mid/late afternoon the group will drive to Blenheim. This is an approximately 2 hour trip.

DAY SEVEN

We will leave at 8.30am to take the short drive to Picton. This will leave an hour or so to check in and look around Picton with the possibility of driving along the Queen Charlotte Sound (time permitting). The Interislander ferry leaves at 11.30am for Wellington arriving at 1.45pm. Here you have opportunity to explore the central city, visit Te Papa – the National Museum, see New Zealand’s Parliament building or take the cable car to the Botanic gardens and sweeping views of the city and harbour.
